The AquaSolix Advantage

Pure, clean water – the essential resource for life – has until recently been taken for granted. Not only is our world’s fresh water supply diminishing, the majority of water is contaminated with pathogens, particulates, and chemical pollutants and must be treated to be made safe for human consumption.

The problem is shocking: Water-borne pathogens and pollutants cause nearly one million illnesses and approximately 900 deaths each year in the U.S.; annual worldwide deaths are estimated at 2.2 million. Wastewater and industrial process water must also be treated before discharge, reclamation, or recycling. Booming population growth and development in emerging industrial societies clearly indicate that clean water will be one of the largest global issues of the 21st century. A worldwide water crisis looms; one that will cause water to replace oil as the most important natural resource.

The Old Solutions Are No Longer Working Well

Traditional disinfection using chlorine has made a marked impact on public health. However, over the past several decades, mounting evidence suggests that these disinfectants and their by-products also present health risks. Most industrialized nations are in the process of regulating the quantities and types of disinfection by-products that remain in the water. As a result, there has been growing interest in chemical-free primary disinfection methods.

Non-Chemical Disinfection: A Mixed Bag

Most non-chemical disinfection turns in one of two directions: ultraviolet light, which disrupts the ability of pathogens to reproduce and breaks down other organic compounds, or filtration, which is a separation technology that simply moves the contaminants (via wasted water) from one place to another.

Traditional UV technologies use mercury vapor lamps - a hazardous waste and safety problem - while filtration technologies are expensive and present hazards of their own. Increased attention to the “big picture” of environmental and human health concerns - not to mention the potential for litigation - together create a tremendous need for better water disinfection technologies and solutions.

That’s where AquaSolix comes into the picture.

A True Advantage

Founded in 2006, AquaSolix (formerly Photon Inventures) develops effective and efficient water disinfection platforms that overcome the limitations and hazards of traditional solutions. Our current UV systems utilize Pulsed UV (PUV) Xenon Flash Lamps to deliver precise amounts of high-intensity UV light that destroys pathogens and eliminates the most common toxic volatile organic compounds. Furthermore, because of their “instant ON/OFF” and “on demand” treatment capability, AquaSolix Pulsed UV products can consume only a small fraction of the electricity used by traditional UV disinfection technology.

The AquaPurix water purifier, AquaSolix’s first high-intensity Pulsed UV solution, is designed as a fail-safe barrier for home and business buildings water entry points. Each commercial-capability AquaPurix unit can remediate at least 28,000 gallons of water per day. (Units are easily bundled for higher flow capacities.) One unique advantage of this technology is that the remediation light is powered only when there is a demand for water, with just the right amount of energy for the amount of water being accessed - a distinct advantage over all other UV technologies.

Simply put, no other UV-based water disinfection/remediation product can match AquaPurix in the green arena!
